Blushing Phantom

𝓑𝓵𝓾𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓟𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓶 is a solo performance blending dance, live music, live video mixing and digital dancing avatars to subvert the legibility of the body and celebrate the mutable nature of embodiment.

Exploring disappearance and camouflage in both virtual and actual space, it uses a visual language that references the symbology of flowers, eyes, and butterflies while gesturing toward the iconography of divinity, psychedelia and online .gifs.

𝓑𝓵𝓾𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓟𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓶 broaches the space between the virtual and the actual, resisting digital legibility and queering the binary that separates the real from the fabricated. In a world of Deep Fakes and hyper-realistic A.I. filters, notions of veracity deteriorate and the line marking the interface between reality and artifice is increasingly blurred. In Blushing Phantom, I reclaim this process and playfully address it through live video manipulation and the seamless blending of dance and digital media in order to create a body that is too multiple to be easily captured, labeled or objectified.
